: The location was wonderful, although we had a bit of trouble finding it on the first day. It's in the middle of a maze of small streets, and Google Maps couldn't tell where we were with enough accuracy to give us good directions. When you get close, call Athena and she will guide you in! We stayed here because we wanted to stay in a place with more personality than a bigger city but wanted to be close to Knossos and other local attractions. The town is a perfect size: big enough to have amenities but small enough to be walkable. The quality of local restaurants is above par (Athena recommended Bakaliko and Kritamon, and both were greatBakaliko will do a wine tasting for you if you're there in the afternoon). We got pastries from a local bakery for breakfast. The best thing about the property is the helpful and kind proprietor, Athena!
: The shower was a bit awkward. But that's the nature of the beast in an old building. The bed seemed a bit hard, but we slept great on it, so no complaints!

: Amazing location in a very nice little town. Very atmospheric houses and the hostess made us feel very welcome. Overall we really loved our stay.
: We were there in November and it was rather cold, the beds were quite hard and uncomfortable and the kitchen was rather minimally equiped.

: Our Host (Athena) was very attentive and helpful, providing lots of useful information about Archanes and Crete - and she was always keen to share local delicacies and even a bottle of wine with us. The courtyard is very beautiful and the apartments are all decorated in a traditional style - ours was very comfortable. The marketplace in Archanes is a great place to eat and soak up the authentic local atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for our host, Athena. We have no hesitation in recomending this place to anybody who wants to explore Crete.
: Being a traditional Cretan town meant that dogs (and cats) were left to wander freely around the streets and we needed to be careful where we stepped in the narrow streets. They also enjoy a good bark throughout the night!

: Lovely location and very kind host. Close to the centre of town, so convenient. Beautiful view from upper terrace, very private.
: Ground floor room is in a pretty garden area - unfortunately the cicadas were deafening when we stayed. Mosquitos are a serious issue due to humidity. All doors windows have to be sealed shut which makes the room very stuffy.
