  : Let me start this way: for sure not the poshest house in the area...BUT: once you unveiled the twisted roads up in the hills which you have to take getting somewhere else, most likely with a rented car where even the first gear is too high sometimes, you'll be very pleased you've chosen Villa Barbara. Although located next to the coastal highway which can be a bit noisy once in a while, it is perfect to start your round trips across the island. The view is very nice (the sea in front of you, mountains on the back, a neat colorful garden around you). Most places of interest can be reached in agreeable driving distance (even the west coast area), a beach with free parking is just 3 minutes away. Small shops, bars and restaurants are across the street. Villa Barbara luckily is far enough away to avoid pissed and yelling tourists in the nighttime, but close enough to join them in case you want to. The owner is very friendly, helpful and accessible 24/7, he runs a rental car business and surely can make you a special deal if you ask him upfront (what we unfortunately didn't know...but you do now, so make use of it!). The house may need some small repairs here and there, but has everything you need to feel comfortable. Air conditions are new and work real great, all windows have fly screens, even the sliding doors to the veranda. Warm water is eco-friendly conditioned by using the sun, which too me is best practice...TOP! In case of cloudier days just use a switch and all is good within a short period of time. The only thing you won't find (if you really can't live without it) is a microwave...but, hey...who wants to eat the same junk we have throughout the hole year anyway? We haven't missed it at all. Do yourself a favor by using the kitchen or the grill and create yourself some nice regional specialties...it's all there. Enjoy!
