  : The room we were given did not fit description or photo of the room I believed I was booking. Evening desk staff incompetent and unprofessional. Room snd bathroom of questionable cleanliness and definitely in need of top to bottom renovation. I would not recommend this for a relaxing getaway. The park itself was lovely with nice trails. Gi there but stay somewhere else.

  : The fact that it's situated in a state park and that there are lots of walks and hikes available.
  : (1) The lodge is undergoing reconstruction. No warning about this on Booking.com. (I discovered later that there is a notice near the top of the WV State Parks website for Cacapon but it's not flagged in any way and it's easy to miss it if you scroll down quickly to the entries for Accommodations and the Lodge. These contain no information about the construction work. Most people like me get to Booking.com without going via the State Parks website so the warning should be featured by Booking.com, TripAdvisor etc.)(2) Very noisy from construction during the day.(3) When I reached my room, I couldn't get the lamps or the TV to work. Turned out that person who had cleared the room had left all of them unplugged. This wasn't easy to see because the outlet was hidden behind a heavy TV stand/dresser.(4) In a "closet" directly opposite the door to my room, water was left running from a tap into a sink. It was quite noisy, especially because the door to the closet was wedged half open. The sound was clearly audible in my room.(5) I asked the staff at reception about the water within ten minutes of arriving. They assured me it would be turned off "soon" so I did't ask for a change of room. The water was in fact left running all day and night for the entirety of my 17-hour stay. Had the staff been honest about this when I first approached them, I would have cancelled my reservation immediately and asked for a refund for both nights.(6) The restaurant closes for dinner at the unusually early time of 8pm. There is no notice about this on the on-line listing for the restaurant, at the reception desk, or in the rooms. I only found out when I went to have dinner and saw a sign right outside the restaurant. As it happened, I arrived a few minutes before 8 but there were no restaurant staff in sight. When I asked at the front desk, they told the restaurant had already closed.

  : Beautiful lake and rustic setting. The Nature Center Staff is sensational. The entire lodge staff is great as well. Food is well presented and tasty.
  : Hotel under renovation. Public Bathrooms in basement in main building . Lodge rooms small even for our group (2adults,2 young grandkids).The menu is repetitive, but the food is tasty. There is no such thing as “gluten friendly option”...... it should be “gluten free” or not mentioned at all.
