  : We received a text message from Vacasa on the day of our arrival with the code to our rental condo. Upon arrival the code worked and only found that the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and did not work. We reported immediately. The washing machine leaked onto the floor with every load and the dryer did not fully dry clothes so we had to separate loads into smaller 1/3 loads to fully dry. THE BIGGEST ISSUE!!!! Someone broke into our unit using the key pad code and stole our keys and car. We had car seats for our children in the car but nothing else. Our unit number was on the parking tag which most likely helped the thief. We discovered after calling Vacasa with the Breck police that the keypad codes are only CHANGED QUARTERLY and NOT BETWEEN GUESTS!! I am furious about this!! Not only did we lose 3 nights, and have spent the better part of every day since trying to resolve the issues but my 3 children continue to be terrified someone will break into our home! We could not find a suitable replacement car rental anywhere near Breckenridge and had to fly home. Vacasa provided a transfer to the airport and reimbursement for our condo but had left me the impression that they would cover our flights and car home from KC airport. Unfortunately I was told by Alison the GM at Vacasa that they "are taking the stance that this is what trip insurance is for" and that "it isn't feasible to change lock codes between guests for every stay"!We assume a level of responsibility as guests to care for the home we are renting and be careful to lock it to protect our things but also those of the person who provided their home to families like us. We are both violated in this case and as a home owner I wonder if they knew that locks were not changed between renters. In fact, Vacasa could not provide a record for the last time the lock was changed. The thief was caught thanks to GPS but has 2 prior warrants for auto theft in the area
