  : The location and building was very nice
  : I order a drink in the evening and it never came. I had to tell the staff not to bother bringing it after 45 mins. I had the kippers for breakfast and they were not great. Also I was not told about the pool and how to access it, so I didnt bother. I think the word luxury is not quite what this is as a hotel.

  : Room was a Good size, staff were friendly, steaks were cooked well and peppercorn sauce was nice.
  : Chips were awful, toasted cheese and tomato sandwich was 11 for less than 1 of ingredients a tiny amount of cheese, it was griddled which meant it had burned lines on it which made it taste burnt, this was the same with any toasted item from the kitchen including breakfast and the cheese hadn't melted. Black pudding was only cooked on one side. All food was under seasoned. Service was very slow. There are no lights to guide you to the lodge and the room wasn't cleaned particularly well.

  : + we had a lovely holiday as a family + setting - absolutely beautiful, surrounded by fields of flowers and frolicking lambs and next to a National Trust house. + we were upgraded to the main house which meant we had access to baby monitors during dinner. + generally child-friendly + nice to have access to the pool + had a great massage in the spa
  : - needs a serious revamp. It was fine, but definitely not 'luxurious' (price-tag was though). Furniture needs replacing/bathrooms/paint etc - staff all well-meaning but mostly VERY young so not always the most professional e.g., us needing to approach someone to ask to have our order taken - the food. average pub food for smart restaurant prices. I would recommend going in to Bury to eat - lots of lovely restaurants there. We ended up eating out at 5pm with our toddler as babysitting was 25 a hour!
