  : The location of this particular lodge means that the garden is on a corner backing onto farmland. This was lovely. The sheep were very friendly and we bought some fat balls for the birds and saw chaffinches, gold finches amongst the usual suspects. The outside area was lovely for star spotting on a clear night especially in Sept/Oct. The lodge was warm and comfy with throws and everything you need for cosy nights. The hosts very much wanted you to have a good time and we had everything we needed. This is near enough to Dalbeattie and Dumfries but out in the sticks. Other lodges are around but very private. I recommend Mabie Forest and Dalbeattie Forests close by for some lovely walks and wildlife - Forest of Ae is also worth a punt about 30 mins away - just North of Dumfries. A very enjoyable week was had and we were sad to go. :)
  : This was nothing to do with the lodge at all but it was disappointing that D&G's usual friendly hospitality was missing due to the C19 rules Scotland has in place.
