  : - In the lift, it says that it has 8 stories while the ground floor is stated as 4!- breakfast was so basic- bed was not comfortable

  : On check in asked what facilities we'd be using so they could take a suitable deposit on C/Cd, we had just arrived so really didn't know, this questioning was not expected from a Marriot Hotel esp when they had a c/cd for breakfast & room for 2 nights already. Maybe it was the way they asked - it felt so distrusting! Terrible bed - very worn, so soft you roll out each side - and you wake every time you try to move - only the middle was firm enough to sleep reasonably on, pillows hard & lumpy but the requested soft feather pillows on the 2nd night helped match the soft worn out bed. Edinburgh is a great place for walking & for this you need a good nights sleep. Rang to ask about a 2nd towel as only one supplied... they hide a 2nd away in the wardrobe as they 'cater for only singles' - not helpful when you're wet out of the shower, this sets the scene for the miserable offerings... Miserable with tea bag allocation - 3 in total, 1 each Earl grey, english & peppermint... don't expect to share a cuppa here in your room!No liquid hand soap, again a miserable offering of a slither of bar soap wrapped tightly in plastic - no place to hang hand towel near sink.Hard to catch the eye of staff to order & then on arrival breakfast staff slamming down food on the run - then dishes are swooped away as soon as you place cutlery down. Undrinkable coffee. The evening meal service was however great.
