  : As far as incredible locations go, this property is unbelievable. You're about as far west as you can get in Europe, and you feel like you're literally at the edge of the world. Staying at Moinho da Cascata is like being transported back in time - you're staying at a 300 year old home that used to be a water mill, right at the base of a majestic waterfall and cliffs, all within a stone's throw from the Atlantic ocean. I have been to a lot of different places, and this is one of the most unique, incredible experiences you can get from an accomodation. That being said, it *is* an experience. It is a 300 year old home, and it definitely feels like it at times. During our stay, winds howled at 50-60km/h endlessly, so you felt every draft in the home, and heard every bang and rattle of the windows. At night, the Cory's Shearwater birds took flight from the cliffs and they were bizarre sounding! After cooking breakfast and leaving for the day, we discovered why you had to clean up perfectly, and were visited by the local ant colony. None of this is a bad thing though, if you know what you're getting into. It's all part of the experience. This is not a fancy place to stay with creature comforts. The necessities are there, and there are some simple comforts (nice warm wool blankets for each bed!), but that's it. It felt like you were truly living on Flores island, rather than existing in a sanitized hotel room. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights there, and have made incredibly fond memories. Both the location and the experience of staying at this lodging make the cost to comfort ratio absolutely worth it - I've stayed in high end hotels for the price I paid for this home, but none were as beautiful nor memorable as Moinho Cascata.
  : The windows rattled a lot in the wind. We wedged some paper in their frames to stop that, and it lessened the noise, but the cracks in the home were quite noticeable with the wind and the draft! However, you are facing nothing but the Atlantic Ocean, with a massive cliff behind you, in a 300 year old home. If you're planning a trip to Flores, do yourself a favor and book this location. Understand what you're in for, and you'll have a once in a lifetime experience.

  : The house and the location are very nice, but the property management is not. The huge amount of mold is in the sink, no housekeeping, but youve got 1 towel per person for few days, and each next day you should use very wet towel, no bottled water even, the fridge was empty. A lot of spiders inside the house, outside area (bbq and terrace) are full of spiders web. The electric kettle doesnt work normally. Now new bedsheets Wi-fi works from time to time, its impossible to work or to call anybody with video. half of light bulbs should be replaced OK, they installed dehumidifier, it works good, but the size of the wood doesnt fit to the fireplace and theres aint no axeComparing to other properties in Azores, service is so-so, no fresh bread in the morning, the management is not involved in the process. Hope, it will be fixed, cause the place, the house, the wood inside and atmosphere there is amazing.
