  : Good location for a break before crossing the channel. The village is lovely, with good dog walks.
  : Appalling rip-off. Outrageous that they are charging £120 per night for a very poor quality, dirty room. The first impression created was dreadful - the staff were surly on arrival, and difficult over our payment. Things got worse when we went to our room which was in a terrible condition - cheap furniture and decor which had not been updated since the 1990s. In addition, exposed electrical wires (see photograph), mould in the bathroom (see photograph), mattresses that were broken and long in need of replacing and consequently very uncomfortable, and a stained dirty carpet. Clearly the management/ownership here feels it can charge people over the odds because of the location without reinvesting anything at all in its premises - outrageous. The whole place needs an overhaul with new furniture, decoration and a very good clean. If you need to cross the channel - I would suggest you find somewhere else where they value their customers and where you can get a decent night's sleep.

  : Located in a quiet village. 2 other pubs within 4 minute walk. Bus service to Canterbury stops right outside the Rose and Crown and is a half hour journey to Canterbury. Bus service also goes to Folkstone. There is also a small corner shop just over the road. We were able to park our car out of site on the premises. Nice helpful staff.
  : No servicing of the room.

  : Careful, there's no mobile phone connection other than Wifi, no calls possible.
