Roy Bridge Hotel

: Am having trouble finding much good to say about this hotel. Although the room was spacious, it was greatly lacking in amenities. Nothing was replenished for our second night's stay. There were no glasses provided in the room. WIFI worked in the bar but not in our room. The pizza we ordered for our dinner tasted very much like microwaved frozen pizza. When we returned to a full bar after a day out and found no place to park, we were told to park down the street at a public parking lot. The bar patrons obviously were more important than hotel guests. Use this hotel only if necessary.

: I liked the location and cleanliness it was quaint cabin by the river
: When we booked it as 2 adults two twin beds it the charge appeared as 129.00. When we got the receipt from the hotel in email it was 168.00! There was no one to answer the phone at 8 am the next morning even though the restaurant attached had a sign that said Open at 8 am the manager was somewhat unfriendly - subtle- but he sounded like he did not really like that there were several Americans staying there at the same time as we did. There was an unnecessarily hostile sign on the front door that said to hikers You are not welcome time in and use the toilet! Granted since it is a popular hiking area near Ben Ness they might get bombarded with that. If he were smart and he really wanted to provide a service he would add toilets and welcome them! They would probably flock to his bar and restaurant and even rent rooms when they tired of sleeping in the woods! His attitude did not reflect openness and friendliness to tourists. I would never recommend anyone staying there for this reason.

: The hotel, although a little tired in places, was spotlessly clean, and the staff were so good and helpful. They stopped serving food at 8:30 pm but we arrived at 9:10 pm. However they kindly opened the kitchen and cooked us some fish and chips which were delicious. The room was clean, as was the bathroom.
: The bed! I do wish the proprietors of hotels would spend some nights sleeping in the beds in the rooms they let out. The mattress was lumpy, as were the pillows. Fortunately, as we'd had such a long drive to get to the hotel, we were dog tired, so we managed to get some sleep! Also, breakfast wasn't included in the price of our room, so I think 178 is a bit steep for room only!
