Quinta dos Caracois

: A very nice place close to Lagos, ideal for families. Very quiet surroundings, swimming pool for the little ones to play, lots of space in the apartments. One can reach Lagos in 10 minutes (by car).
: My bed was very hard The location is close to Lagos, but unfortunately there is nothing around, that one can explore on foot, like a park or a beach or a promenade with shops/restaurants. Everything is in Lagos. So you are 'stuck' in the hotel so to speak - which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you have a car.

: spacious well equipped apartment. As described it is outside the town but only a few minutes drive away and parking is straightforward. With a car easy to visit the wide variety of beaches and coast on the South and West of Portugal.

: It was based in a good location to get to lots of different places, especially if you had transport. We walked and got to see a lot of the countryside and its wildlife but wished we had hired a car as we could have seen more.
: The local taxi service. We had gone for a wedding and the local taxi's let us down. They wouldn't let us reserve a taxi and then after numerous calls were 45 minutes late.thank God for Ubers who got us back.

: Inside photos obviously were taken from 4 different differently equipped apartments and were misleading therefore. We got not the best one. Definitely the worst stay during our vacation. I have been traveling a lot, though first time in Portugal, maybe that is a standard there, but: Kitchen Never have seen so barely equipped kitchen, just a very basic stuff. Not even a grain of salt, to say nothing about anything else. Oil, baking paper, dishwashing liquid, sponge, whatever - you should take care on everything yourself. And very, very dark, just a poor lamp in cat's eye shine. Bedrooms. As there are no conditioning anywhere you should open a window. But. There are no windows there. Just sliding doors. So, to refresh the inside you have to keep doors open during a night. One electrical socket in whole room where a night light is already plugged in. Bathroom. We were 5. Amendments only for one person, except the towels. We were all five were in same thoughts regarding the smell. Inside and outside as well, depending on wind. I assume other apartments might be better, but it is as it is, our experience is strongly negative.

: Our host Luis was very nice and easy to talk to, very quick at responding when we asked for additional kitchen items. The saltwater pool was very good (we used it a lot) and the area cozy on a hill where we had a comfortable light breeze in the afternoons. Everything in Lagos was easy to reach by car, mostly within 5 minutes.
: As already mentioned by others, the beds and sofas were quite uncomfortable. The kitchen equipment was very basic.

: Very clean and neat property. Pool was great (just right temp), parking in front of unit. 5 minutes from Lagos. Manager was very helpful. Villa was quite large, plenty of room. The nicest yet cheapest place we stayed at out of the 5 properties we rented in Portugal.
: Bed was a bit hard for my liking. You have to open the doors to get fresh air (no windows to open), but had big ceiling fans to move it around. Although the kitchen had all the appliances and tools to use, no cleaning essentials (soap, sponge) are included and no cooking basics like salt, pepper oil or even paper towels.

: Loved that there were not so many people due to smaller numbers of units. Made for a more personal experience. Did not feel crowded and sharing facilities was done with respect and enjoyable.
: The beds were uncomfortable. Too hard and the double was only a double. In the heat much nicer to have a bigger master bed and generally softer all around. The smell from drains was not pleasant, but it was everywhere in Portugal.
