  : Monte da Eirinha is great value. A quinta (old farmhouse) in a small village in a quiet and unspoilt off-the-beaten-track part of Portugal. The sort of place that existed before the days of mass tourism. You can see the stars at night, see flocks of storks circling in the heat of the day and hear the bullfrogs croaking at dusk. Nothing better than a swim in the pool after a day's adventure. Just 15 minutes drive away is the amazing small hilltop fortified town of Mertola a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The local council manages very successfully several sites spanning the town's Roman, Islamic and Christian history. The Espao Casa Amarela restaurant has wonderful views across the Guadiana River to Mertola old town and its castle. A real romantic venue as the sun sets. Not much more expensive than the "standard" restaurants with unusual menu options and friendly staff.
  : The description for Monte da Eirinha says "Each unit has a patio, a kitchen with a dishwasher, a dining area and a seating area with a flat-screen TV, while the private bathroom includes a bath or shower and a hairdryer. A microwave, a fridge and stovetop are also featured, as well as a kettle and a coffee machine." In fact only one unit has and the rest are just bedrooms and bathrooms which have access to a (nice) communal lounge and kitchen. As a previous reviewer pointed out the bathroom smelt of sewage for the first couple of days and the shower tray filled up with water and took ages to drain. Needs a bit of shower plunging or sewer pipe redesign. The breakfast was only 6 euros but disappointing. Tasteless plastic cheese and ham every day. Come on. You can do better with all the bread, pastries and specialities the locality offers. I'm sure guests would pay more.
