  : It was shut when we arrived - we had to roam around to find the owner. Told the pub was shut on Mondays and Tuesdays. No food in evenings, so we booked next door.

  : There are few positives.The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bacon was good.
  : We have stayed in many old pubs and expect to hear creaking floor boards, but at the Dante Arms we could hear our neighbours conversations, each time they went to the bathroom, the snoring, even the light switch. I had booked a room with a garden view but we had a close view of the back of the adjacent property. The room was small and luckily we are not overweight, as anyone large would have difficulty getting past the end of the bed to go to the bathroom. The 'wardrobe' was tiny and made of material with a zip.To get upstairs to the bedroom we went through a kitchen area which was apparently the only way to all the rooms.At breakfast the staff were disinterested and made the minimum effort with no pleasantries. We each had one cup of coffee and one slice of toast and were not asked if we would like more.The decor is very shabby (definitely not shabby chic). We wouldn't stay again as there are far nicer places in Middleham.
