  : Hotel was across the street from the beach. Literally a few steps. Loved my balcony view of the ocean. The courtyard was really nice and there are sitting areas at the front of the hotel at each level where you have great ocean views. Great place to have a glass of wine and just enjoy the ocean sounds and views.
  : The area has alot of homeless encampments on the beach, sidewalks and parking lot. To get to the pier you had to walk through the encampments. Newport Avenue was not what I expected. There were some cute vintage stores but it's mostly bars. People arguing in the streets and many unhoused people walking around. Kind of a routy vibe. I had my daughter with me and we didn't feel safe. Although my ocean view from my balcony was beautiful, it was also a view of the encampments. The room was very small. The bed had 1 blanket that was thin and rough. It's an old hotel and could use more renovations.When we first arrived I told the lady at the desk I had a reservation and she just stared at me. I told her again I had a reservation and she rudely said give me your driver's license. We arrived 45 minutes early so we walked down newport avenue. When we returned there was a different person at the desk and he was very welcoming and very helpful. Overall kind of disappointed with the place. Will not book there again. Not a place to take your kids

  : Bad attitude from the front desk and telling me it was my blood

  : The staff was friendly, kept the entire property very clean, and we really enjoyed the 2 resident cats! The courtyard was beautiful and the 3-level patio overlooking the beach was wonderful--when it was chilly we could be on the top level in the sun, and if it got too warm, we could be on a lower level in the shade.
  : There were no screens on the windows so flies got into the room
