  : As part of the golden circle area, this hotel is located in a good location for finishing or starting your tour. The staff was very nice and very welcoming
  : The hotel is built in a rather complex way so getting to the room from the parking lot was a bit challenging, but the staff is there and very helpful

  : The location was extraordinarily beautiful. In addition, the hotel was located adjacent to a historic church and an archaeological site. It was absolutely beautiful and so easy to take advantage of visiting this incredible site.
  : The shower facility was not ideal.

  : Lovely location! Skalholt is rural and gorgeous, in between farm land, beautiful scenery and the golden circle. We got a great deal for a last minute stay at the hotel and enjoyed watching the sunset over the church when we arrived. Our room didn't have a fridge so we were very grateful when the kind hostess lent us a mini one for our room. The room was comfortable, warm and had excellent block out blinds Sunrise the following morning when we left the hotel was a bonus, everything looked beautiful.

  : The location was great, very peaceful and interesting surroundings. The hotel has some interesting rooms like living room with library.
  : It is a strange room.. 9 windows which only one you can open. The bathroom was horrible! Small, smely, no light, only small not-opening window. Everything was wet after showering. The coffee maker was broken and there was a constant noise from heating system or from water tubes - you can hear other rooms showers and toilets flushing..There were also creapy pictures on the wall and the floor didnt seem to be new or clean.The worst accomodation we had on iceland.

  : Warning do not stay here / waste your money 1. FoodThere is only a set menu with 1 option of food a day so if you dont like what is on the menu, tough luck. Nearest restaurant with options is a 9 min drive or 2 hour walk if you want to enjoy a pint. Breakfast is 17 for a cheap array of food with basic yogurt and cereal being the highlight. 2. Room No tv, if you want a double bed it is just 2 single beds pushed together with single duvets. Water provided is from the bathroom (ew) as informed by staff. The housekeeping do a sorry and disgraceful attempt at cleaning the room. They dont refill coffee station nor do they make the bed. Asked for both of these and was ignored by staff. Please see photo of cleaned room. 3. HotelHotel has no reception nor lobby. Besides your room and the unwelcoming restaurant there is a room with old chairs, a piano and a display cabinet to relax in. Couldnt even put in a coffee stand in it. Would not stay here again nor recommend. The staff, facility, location, food option are all failures and besides it being close to the cathedral I think it would be closed down. Im not sure where anyone that gave this a hotel a decent review stayed but their standards must be very low.
