  : A lovely hotel that is very dog-friendly and serves excellent food. Our only issue with our stay was that the meal service was extremely slow. We were sitting in the Conservatory as we had our dog with us. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the service was slow. Perhaps this was because it was a Sunday evening? Other than this we had a very pleasant time.

  : My wife and I got married here back in 2013 and decided to return for our 11th wedding anniversary. What an utter disappointment.Pulling up you are immediately greeted by the tacky clapped out 80s rolls Royce parked outside the main entrance. Covered in moss and rust, clearly not moved in a long time.I had booked an “executive double” at a cost of £355 for one night so my expectations were elevated over a b&b in Scarborough. Sadly the room we were given was not even up to the standard of a £35 a night hostel. Room 10, directly above the dining room.It’s sparse, cold and to say it needs some refurbishing would be kind. Doesn’t look like it’s been given a lick of paint since the original inhabitants moved out.Not to mention if you enjoy a lie in past 730 then you will be further disappointed as the room is directly above the room they use for breakfast where apparently loud music with a thumping bass is required.Don’t bother having a shower in the morning either because there is no hot water. The bathroom itself could best be described as dated, basic and in need of maintenance. Dripping shower? Holes in the tiles? Chipped sink?The heating doesn’t work either despite being assured it’s on a timer and to use the tiny little plug in heater if the room was too cold…The underside of the toilet seat was also dirty so you know that they aren’t cleaning properly.On a note about the details, two guests yet only one packet of crisps and one packet of biscuits? You can do better at this price point, no, you MUST do better at this price point.I mentioned it that I had booked my wedding anniversary and as part of that I confirmed flowers and Prosecco to be in the room on arrival as a nice surprise for my wife. The only surprise is that neither of those things were in the room and while they did send up a bottle of Prosecco a couple of hours later, after I questioned it, they could not provide flowers as they had to be ordered in.
