B&B Il Castello

  : Il Castello was apartment in the Tivoli center (excellent for Tivoli villas visit, 3 minutes to Villa d'Este and walking distance to Gregoriana villa, bus ride to Adrianna villa). Good size room and bathroom. Very clean.
  : Internet was available, but was not working during the whole stay. As there was not good telephone signal in the building, I couldn't use either my own internet. Owner was present on check-in only, but was available on phone / online. Breakfast was not in facility, but was in cafeteria close-by (and it was 2 croissants and coffee).

  : Once found, Il Castello is a clean and attractive, handy location. The host is responsive by phone, but not on the premises, except during your check-in time. The building: look for a small 9 on a curving white apartment building w/ several businesses at street level. Enter an open to the street covered area with plastic trash cans. Look on the left wall for a list of apartment buzzers. You will see a small label Il Castello. Once inside, the building's elevator is down a few steps. Inside the elevator car you must push the floors button firmly & hold for a few seconds. Repeat several times if needed. When our host met us, we were given a parking pass to be displayed on the cars dash for parking in blue lined spaces. Pass needs to be returned to host as it is for one month of parking. Parking is available near the panorama view point on 3 sides of a tree lined piazza with fountains. There is a Castello near by, but not open to the public.
  : Our first night there the automatic heat for the room and the bath did not come on. For fear of messing with any controls, we did not touch anything. We were cold. It was too late to call anyone, we reported it the next day. The friendly cleaning lady checked the heaters and turned everything back on. The bathroom is stylish, but the shower could use a corner shelf for guests toiletries and a grab bar. The shower floor looks cool but is slippery when wet. Sink is too shallow, water splashes out or drips off ones hands on to a varnished wood counter, while turning off the tap. There are photos in Il Castello's "Gallery" that give the impression that breakfast is served on the premises, it is not. We knew that the responsibility for breakfast would be passed off to a lively bar down the street. Its a nice bar, but not an adequate breakfast for an accommodation touting that its a B&B. One coffee, one pastry and thats it, an unsustainable breakfast, for a 3-4 hrs. of sightseeing on foot. So we avoid this type of B&B formula always, but the trade off for parking and good location to attractions was made up by the great pizza-by-the-slice joint, near the coffee bar.

  : Lorenzo was a wonderful host with a great personality and an eagerness to help! He prepared many details answering most questions we had regarding our stay. We drove and he provided a parking pass, for blue area parking, which made it so easy to park and unload luggage. We enjoyed our spacious room with balcony, which was very clean and well decorated and the bed was very comfy! There was also an elevator to transport our luggage..a huge relief! The proximity to the square was perfect, an easy walk to the fountains, Villa d'Este (Tivoli Gardens) and Parco Villa Gregoriana. I would highly recommend staying at II Castello for your trip to Tivoli.

  : Great location to visit interesting places and going to eat in Tivoli. Very very close to the two Villas. It was a bit weird the shared space and the distribution with other rooms, plus the noise that you can hear from other rooms but in general we slept good and the staff was great.
  : Noisy at times from other rooms.
