Disappointing

  : The hotel is right on the main street in Todtmoos. The Schluchtensteig trail passed right by the front door. My room was very clean.
  : There were no staff members visibly present in the hotel during my entire stay. My room card was left in an envelope with a note saying they'd already charged my credit card for the stay. Basically it was a case of we have your money look after yourself. There was no food available in the hotel and even though I requested breakfast there wasn't even a biscuit to be had. I wanted to complain but there were staff in the building. The decor in the room was a throwback to the 1970s. The room was also quite noisy as it overlooked a woodcraft workshop. This hotel was my only negative experience along the entire Schluchtensteig trail and the rest of my holiday in Germany. Its a pity really as its in such a great location in a such a beautiful town.

  : The hotel lies in the beautiful black Forrest. Its not close to the highway, but the detour is very much worth it. The room was simple, but had all I needed for one night.
  : Its a bit outdated, but thats also its charm.

  : The wifi was good. The rooms were clean. That is all the positive I can mention.
  : I booked two rooms at Hotel Lwen months in advance. At that moment there was still communication (reply to questions asked via the Booking.com app). But when I started asking about breakfast and meals a week before our stay, no reply came. Also when calling there was no reply (tried 7 times to call on our day of arrival). When we arrived there was no one at reception and all the common areas were closed. Fortunately our key cards were in an envelope at reception. No one was at reception until our 5th day. Many people arrived and did not find a key card, even though they had booked in advance. Only on our day of departure (7th day) we noticed that a letter had been put up at reception, saying that because of covid-measures the reception was not manned permanently and a telephone number was given (as if covid just arrived!). Our stay was a real deception, and we will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms were cleaned every day, but the broken sun screen and the broken tiles were not repaired, although we mentioned this to the cleaning staff. The TV (in the 2 rooms I rented) continually gave a bad image, which was strange because the wifi was excellent. There was a general atmosphere of abandonment, neglect and decay.

  : The room was very clean, it seems renovated relatively recently, the beds are very comfortable, the hotel is in the middle of the village, but even so, our room had views of the forest and the church. There was no problem bringing a cat

  : - No staff present during our stay. What if something goes wrong? You're pretty much on your own. - Nothing to eat or drink, not even a vending machine - The rooms seem clean, and are cleaned daily - but a lot of dust mites - people with allergies, be warned - The hotel is run like some people run their AirBnB. But if I would have wanted an AirBnB, I would have picked one.
