  : During our extensive "Grand Tour" of Italy, where we had the opportunity to stay at approximately 12 different rental apartments, all of which boasted ratings of at least 9, this particular apartment stands out as a dismal exception. Regrettably, I must express our overwhelming disappointment with our experience here, primarily stemming from two profoundly disconcerting issues: a persistent, and nauseating odor that pervaded the bed rooms and bathrooms and shockingly substandard cleanliness levels in the bathrooms. While there was also a notable noise concern, it pales in comparison to the egregious shortcomings that marred our stay.
  : (i) The Noxious Odor: To describe the odor within this apartment as offensive would be a gross understatement. It emanated with a pungent, acrid, and a bit urine-like stench that clung to every nook and cranny of the bathrooms and bedrooms, stubbornly refusing to dissipate. Our senses, regrettably, never had the opportunity to adapt to this assault, which cast a dark shadow over our entire stay. Our sensitivity was not to blame, as we could discern a stark contrast between areas afflicted by this malodorous issue (such as the master bedroom, the stairway leading to the hidden room, and the hidden room itself) and those mercifully free of it (such as the living room, the common stairway, and the common lobby). One can't help but suspect that this foul odor is tied to plumbing or sewage issues, as it exclusively plagued rooms with bathroom facilities. It is, in no uncertain terms, unbearable and made the unit virtually uninhabitable.(ii) Appalling Bathroom Hygiene: The state of the bathroom was nothing short of appalling. The curtain on the outside window (in the bathtub area) was infested with mold, releasing a steady trickle of what we can only refer to as "mold juice" during showers. The resulting ordeal required us to adopt unnatural and uncomfortable poses to ensure no part of our bodies made contact with this curtain, which added an unwelcome layer of stress to our daily routines. Additionally, the water outlet of the European bidet was disgustingly filthy, marred by ominous black stains that appeared to be mold growth. I could barely stop our daughter from inadvertently using this unsanitary fixture.While it is understood that a rental apartment may not provide the same amenities and services as a hotel, this particular establishment, with its severe shortcomings, falls far short of the standards we have come to expect during our travels in light of other comparable apratments.
