  : The receptionist (Jane) and barman (Gary) did their very best to make this experience as painless as possible, so full credit to them.
  : The short answer is this...... Avoid at all costs.The hotel is very tired and in need of serious investment and improvement. When I booked, I expected a hotel room within the main hotel building. On arrival, I was shown to what I can only describe as an outhouse (chalet) in the rear car park. The chalet was very dated and in poor condition. Not what I, nor anyone else for that matter, would have expected.I later found out that I was the only resident in the hotel as it was effectively closed for the winter and due to fire safety, I could not stay in the main building on my own. I was notified a week in advance that catering would not be provided as the restaurant was closed (apparently, the chef was transferred to another hotel within the chain). I should have known then that this was going to be a challenging stay.It disappoints me that certain hoteliers are able to promote facilities of this standard, clearly old pictures on the website, and that this is not policed effectively by Booking.com. Definitely not the impression the Scottish tourist trade would welcome.

  : While very clean and tidy, it is plain that the hotel requires some investment in updating decor and facilities. I suspect that CV19 Lockdowns did it no favours.

  : Room was clean and bed comfortable.Staff made contact on day of arriving to let us know how to access our room.
  : We had already been informed that kitchen would be shut and therefore we could not buy breakfast or evening meals alongside our room, but we were still expecting a room IN a hotel with proper heating whereas we had a chalet in a car park We had to ask for an additional heater as the small one on the wall in the chalet did not give adequate heat ( this was provided quickly)As a hotel we expected daily cleaning. This did not happen. Tea making facilities were provided (tick) but we had no means of washing up our cups other than running them under a hot tap in the bathroom and using our face towels to dry them. There was a kitchen area but it was bare and only had cold water to the sink!In the bathroom there was a water heater over the sink and an electric shower. Neither of these gave much water flow, or got that warm. Rinsing in the shower took a lot longer than expected as a result.No staff on site while we were there
